Understanding Body Fat Percentage

Body fat percentage is the mass of fat divided by total body mass. It gives a better health indicator than weight alone. Essential fat is higher for women (10–13%) than men (2–5%). The Navy method uses circumference, BMI method estimates based on BMI, skinfold uses calipers, and the Army method is used for military fitness standards. Each method has ~2–4% error margin.
